dual exhaust
dual exhaust
Does any one know if a dual exhaust system would be good for my '94 850? I fould one at EuroSportTuning for $700. Is that a good buy and how would i go by getting a rear bumper to allow a second tail pipe.

Dual exhaust is pointless on an inline engine and is really only for cosmetic purposes. If you wanted to do it though, you have to cut out a place for the other exhaust pipe on the bumper. You'd be better off going with one of the single outlet exhausts from EST.

But it sounds so nice and looks so good
! Check out this picture of my 2000 V70 XC that I added V70R AWD dual-exhaust to

None that I can tell, though I think I read somewhere that someone else did this conversion and dyno'ed the vehicle before/after and picked up 5 hp. I don't drive my vehicle hard enough to tell any difference in performance, but I love the looks of it and it has a deeped bass note at idle.dbgt202 wrote:Is there any performance benefits?

The bottleneck is your downpipe (post engine, pre exhaust). Splitting into quad exhausts isn't going to help if you don't change the bottleneck, although that would get a few admiring stares on the road

The V70/XC exhaust (as all V70 wagons EXCEPT the 2000 V70R, AFAIK) does not split the exhaust at all...it runs into the right hand (passenger side) muffler (located behind the rear bumper) and then pipes it over to the left hand muffler. It was not installed for performance...it was installed because I hated the looks of the "patch" that Volvo put over the left-hand side of the bumper and I needed a muffler anyway. The price of the V70R dual-exhaust was the same as the V70 XC single exhaust. See this link for more info:
