Looking for Volvo mechanic in NYC or southern CT

Post by moxiemox »

We recently moved to the Bronx and are looking for a good shop to take care of our hardworking 1995 850 sedan. Thanks for your recommendations!

Try my old shop in Westport Ct. IPM inc. 612 Riverside Av. 203 227 3300 I sold it to my long time shop manager Dave Chandler9 years ago. Itis convenenly located a stones throw from the Westport RR station and we did a lot work for people in the NYC area. Dave and the crew there are very experienced with out the NYC rip off prices. They also now work on most european vehicles Tell them Dick sent you

Hi Dick,

Is it a Volvo specialty shop - do they do rebuilt transmissions?

I have an S80 T6 that needs a transmission.

I was told about this place recently and also about SBC Restoration in Norwalk, CT. I visited both.

I much prefer Peter's personality (SBC) than Daves. Peter is a one man band in a low rent district and has been running his own Volvo (only) repair and restoration business for the past 20 years.

The Westport place is far more convenient as I work in Westport but Dave could care a less whether or not he sees you again. Sorry, probably not what the past owner and establisher of a good reputation want to hear.

Google Peter at SBC Restoration and you will find unsolicted fabulous reviews

I echo the comments about the Westport shop. I had work done on a 2005 V70 that ended up costing much more than expected and frankly I remain unconvinced that the recommended repairs were required. I will try Norwalk.
