Water pump replacement interval???

Hey everyone, I have 98 V70XC with 70k miles. Just replaced timing belt and I am thinking about the water pump. When is that supossed to be replaced?? I cannot find anywhere any time interval. Any takers

From the 1/5 of my life spent reading posts on the Net, I've gleaned that the best solution, consensus, general agreement to this question is 'X2.' Or rather, replace the water pump once every second timing belt. I can't remember reading about a single water pump failure on 850/70 models.

Oh, by the way, it's a good thing that this doesn't need more frequent changing, because you might as well do the belt if you're replacing the water pump. I.E.: if you did need to replace pump, you'd (or the garage) have to do 90% of the timing belt procedure over again.

Thanks for your responce. I will propably replace it my next T belt interval which is 140K.

Given the additional cost of a water pump vs. the pain of replacing it on failure I would (and will) replace mine with each timing belt. Also thermostat, hoses, etc.

Yea, it's a textbook case of the part that never breaks but if it does it's $%&*! to fix, so why not do it when you're in there already?

X2 or X1 with timing belt replacement. X3 or more and you're asking to be a textbook case of poor maintenance.
