1997 960 Alarm Key-fob quirk . . ?

Post by jahLux »

Can anyone shed light on the quirky behavior of a key-fob alarm control device in my possession? It 'programmed' correctly - using the sequence described in the Owners Manual - and functioned for 24hrs - then quit !!
I checked the batteries with my DMM - they're fine. I'd appreciate your experience and comments.

Have you tried programming it again? My 960 played up in the same way, I reprogrammed it and it was OK.

Yes. to no avail. The reprogramming sequence yielded no response [twice]
Do you know the location of the Alarm Relay? Perhaps it may be in need of replacement?

Thanks Bill - I now go off in search of the "Center Console Relay block" - I'll report on my findings . . . . .
Meanwhile I've been retrying the reprogramming sequence several times with no success. It's really quite frustrating - as it did work properly for a full day before quitting overnight.

Thanks to your directions, I've 'found' the location, but now need to figure how to get there. I believe the Alarm Relay is faulty - the key-fob intermittently programs the alarm, but the 'link' does not hold for more than a couple of hours. Quirky indeed . . . .
Anyone out there on Volvoland seen this before ?? If so what was the fix ?
Thanks again.
