Driver seat position adjustment pre-sets stopped working-S60

Post by kdaide »

All-

I noticed this morning that the position presents for the drivers site seat on my S60 no longer work. The presets still control the mirror positioning. There is no sounds from the set, it just doesnt move. Using the two position adjustments works fine, just no presets

Could it be as simple as someing has come unplugged. How does the present control module connect to the seat positioning motor. Do I need to take the seat out to check this and if so, is this a difficult/time consuming job?

2002 S60 T4 AWD - 205000km

thanks in advance for your help

First try to re-program the settings. If that does not help then the easiest and cheapest thing to check is the switch itself. I'd be willing to guess the switch would probably be the problem.

I tried reprogramming each setting - no luck

Each setting still controls my mirrors throughh so woudnt that suggest that switch must be working correctly? It seems like there is no connection between the switch and the electric motor under the seat.

That would be correct there is no connection which is the problem. Even though it still operates the mirrors, the switch part for the seat itself is probably not working anymore. It's not exactly an "on or off" type failure. The switch can go bad and still partially work. Of course this is all just speculation until you test a new switch. Pretty sure that would fix it.

Is there a way to test the switch other than replacing it and seeing if the problem goes away. I called Volvo and because the part is electronic, there is no provisions for return.

Do you know were I can get part online?

Regards, Kevin

Well I think I might know of a place to find it online.

It depends on your vin number so I'll give you both. For up to ch-314999 all the switches are one color (grey) and they go for $94 from us (retail is $118). If the last six of your vin is above 315000- then they come in different colors according to interior color. They are also cheaper and go for $80 (retail is $101). Send us an email with your vin.
