The engine is a 116 FI (29 B4204T3) <-- don't really know what that means...
I want to put in a K&N air filter to save cost in the long run by being able to clean it myself, and also to increase performance on my '02 S40 1.9L.
When I search, I find two different types, the flat and the conical. None of the sites I've tried seem to be able to tell me which one I need.
Conical:
Part 57-0572
K&N 57i series Kit
Replacement Filter: RC-5058
Product Box Length: 9 in (229 mm)
Product Box Width: 9 in (229 mm)
Product Box Height: 9 in (229 mm)
It comes with clasps and a tube assembly that I think runs from the filter to the engine.
Says it is limited to the size of the factory air box. It is supposed to be an open air filter...
Flat:
Part 1APKF00211
Filter height: 1.188 in (30 mm)
Outside Length: 13.188 in (335 mm)
Outside Width: 6.5 in (165 mm)
I would like to know which one is the best one, can deliver the best performance, and most importantly, which is most suitable for my type of car. If I need to drill holes, replace stuff, etc, that is fine. I am sure that there is a cleaning agent that I will also need to purchase to continue maintenance on the filter, so any good suggestions are welcome.
Thanks a lot,
Mike
