Wiper Relay Interchange between various cars

I use to own a Saab, and there were a great deal of parts that could be exchanged between Saab, VW, GM and several other makes/models.

As you can imagine, they had different prices for the same exact part. The ATF filter for the Saab 900 might be $60, but you could use the same exact GM part for $8. You get the idea.

Is there some sort of parts exchange index between Volvo and other cars? Back in the olden days U-Pull-It junkyards had this massive catalog that let you determine what model/make used the same parts as another.

Does one exist today, or is this only available for dealers?

My little, one man parts shop can find this information from his catalogues. If I give him the Volvo, or whichever car manufacturer, part number he can cross reference it to any other manufacturer's part that is compatible.

Autozone and the like should be able to do the same.
