XC70 TRANS PROBLEM
XC70 TRANS PROBLEM
2003 XC70 135,XXX with a geartronic transmission. When at highway speeds and I accelerate the car hickups or jerks instead of accelerating smoothly. When I put it in manual (geartronic) and downshift it accelerates smoothly without raising the rpms dramaticly. I changed the fluid (3309) last summer and it was on the low end. I topped it off just before I noticed this problem. It is now at the max level (not above) but I don't think this is the problem. Is there a software upgrade that might help? Is there linkage or a sensor that needs replaced?

I've heard most Automatic transmissions like to be over-filled a little. Don't know if this caused your problem, but I like to stay on the safe side and put in a little extra.

The 2003 XC70 is not covered by the ETM extended warranty. Over-filling is not going to do anything good. Checking for a software upgrade is your only choice if you recently flushed the fluid in regards to the trans. Does the car have a check engine light or trans service light on? Are you sure it is the trans or maybe engine related?
