The front right wheel is making a moaning noise. Sounds like wheel bearings. Can I just get the bearings replaced or do I have to change out the hub assembly?
Is it too labor intensive to pay a shop to tear apart the hub and just replace the bearings?

Vadis doesn't show the bearing as a seperate part nor does FCP Groton, they list the hub/bearing assembly at $150 plus the necessary bolts. You may look other places and find the bearing only but it looks like a hub replacement if that is your problem.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I was trying to save some money. Bearings would cost $20 vs over $100 for the whole hub.
I guess its the hub. Rockauto.com has it for $129

If it is that bearing the noise will increase as you turning to the left, however, a worn tire will more likely make that sort of noise .Old Blue 66 wrote:The front right wheel is making a moaning noise.
If you do decide to replace the hub make sure get FAG bearing hub, which is OEM. There are some reports the cheap one fail within a month or so. Funny thing is FAG makes hub bearing for others like Timken;

I just had new tires put on today which is why I thought the noise would go away. I didn't notice the side to side nise change until afterwords. Thanks for the advice on the brand name.confused_al wrote:If it is that bearing the noise will increase as you turning to the left, however, a worn tire will more likely make that sort of noise .Old Blue 66 wrote:The front right wheel is making a moaning noise.
