2005 S40 Front Passenger door problem

Post by pingme »

I tried opening the front passenger side door and the locking pin is not coming up, needless to say the door has remained locked ever since.
All other doors open and lock centrally and individually but this one door won't open.

Has anyone had this problem before? please help.

Its probably the door actuator. I had the same problem o my 2000 S40 & i replaced with a second hand actuator. When i dismantled the old actuator i found the one of the plastic cog wheels had a wear and could not rotate the order cog wheel.

I had a 02 S60 that did that once, on the rear pass door. I while in car put my thumb on pin and locked doors, pushing down as hard as i could. After that i hit unlock button and it worked fine for the next three years i owned. Hope it helps, and works!

I had the same problem with my 2000 S40. The rear door lock would lock, but not open. It was a stiff tug to open it manually, too. Instead of replacing the actuator, I went the cheap route. Took off the door panel (screw in armrest, screw in cavity of the door opener, two screws under latch, a gentle pry along the bottom--out then up), peeled back a bit of the plastic sheeting, cleaned the mechanism with brake cleaner, and lubed it with WD-40. So far, so good!
