Sounds like its behind gauge cluster. How do you get to it?

I don't think your car has a flasher relay similar to what you may have seen on another or older car. I think the flashing is computer controlled, but it's very possible I'm wrong about this.

bkfm72, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The turn signal flasher is built into the hazard warning light switch.

If you have a loudspeaker mounted in the centre of the dashboard you need to remove this to access the back of the switch to push it out. Turn the speaker grille a 1/4 turn and gently pull it up. Remove 4 screws, the speaker and its connector. Press out the hazard light switch and disconnect it.

What problem do you have with the flasher unit? There are numerous cases recorded of a good hard tap putting things right.

It quits intermittently. Just started doing that recently. It starts working all by itself. I didnt think they were combined but this will help with diagnosis. Emergency flashers worked when turn signals didnt.

Take the butt end of a screwdriver and give the switch a good hard whack and see if it stays working for a while. If not, you'll need to buy a new switch. It was about $72 from the dealer for my S70 - I'm not sure how much it'd run on an S60.
