So after 10 yrs in the same house my wife hit the side mirror on the garage and cracked the outer housing pretty bad. The mirror still works and isn't hanging off the car. It's more superficial damage but the broken end is rather sharp and easy to bang into with an elbow or something.
So.....
1). How easy is it to replace?
2). Any hints on getting the door panel off?
3). Does this require the "mandatory dealer reprogramming" if I buy a junkyard unit?

You should be able to just pry it off as shown in the beginning of this post: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 11&t=21040chrisbruck wrote: 2). Any hints on getting the door panel off?
After you pry it off, there are probably a couple nuts or bolts holding the mirror on. Sorry, I don't have pics of that.

I can answer question #3, as long as you get the correct junkyard replacement it is plug and play. Make sure you check if it has memory, or if it is electronically foldable. There is no software needed for replacement.

So I got a used mirror assembly and the previous post with the door trim pics is great. The new (used) mirror does not have the glass.
Any ideas on how to get the old glass mirror off to install on my new mirror assembly?? (I'm talking about just the "mirror glass" and not how to unbolt the whole thing from the door).
