1984 volvo 240 just killed another blower motor.
I have a 1984 244 dl which is now on at least it's 4th motor, no idea what the previous owner did or how many times. today i was driving to work and the heat smelled funny, like melting or burning. when i got into the car later, the motor was running sluggish, only at certain speeds, and now it's not running at all. Does anyone have any ideas on whether this is the resistor or the motor? i really hate to take the dash apart and find out i don't have all the right parts. any help is appreciated! thanks

Before I put another motor in I would find out why. Check your grounds, voltage at the fan/fans, you will need a good volt meter and a helper. Write down the voltage at each fan setting with both fan control switches. Not knowing if your car has dual controls or not but if it does there might be an issue with them? Then check that with what the book says it should be, I don't have that info sorry.
If all else fails you might want to take it to a automotive electrical shop and have them diagnose the problem then you can fix it. Will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
Good luck Don
