New head unit and speakers question.

Post by playdoh850 »

Hello. I just bought a new cd player to replace the factory radio in my 1996 850. I bought this one http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0YVuE6WYLJ ... E-102.html off of ebay. I was wondering how hard it is going to be to install and if there are any tricks or tips I should know before I try to install it.

I plan on disconnecting the tweeters in the dash and the speakers in the read doors. I plan on just putting new speakers in the front doors and rear deck. What size works best in these locations. I have seen people use a variety of styles and want to know what fits best under the stock grills.

It can be a bit of a challenge but not that bad.

Here is how I dealt with mine for both OEM and aftermarket headunits:

The 8 ohm stuff falls apart but none of the radios cared a whit. I kept them 8 speaker systems.
