I had the same problem. Easy fix. Pull the radio out (no unscrewing anything, just a few clips) on the top of the radio is a 4 digit code. Type that in and it should work.

pete, usually the codes arent on the top of the radio. If thats the case then there would be no reason to have the security on the radios.
If yours isnt there you have to call or stop by a dealer and they'll usually give you the code.

Many Volvo radios do have the code written on them, I always do it but it is not factory - it will be scribbled with a Sharpie or a pen on the radio and it is a 4 digit numeric number.

What is very important is that you only have three shots to get it right or screen will revert to Off then you will need to go through a complicated cycle (key on/radio off for at least 3 hours) to get it back to a point where it will even take the correct code.

Don't just start plugging in random numbers.

The radio is the original one when the vehical was new.
If you can't find it written on it (most of the original ones probably aren't), write down your VIN number and give your Volvo dealer a call. If they want to SEE your car, hang up and give the guys at DW Volvo or Volvo of the Triad a call, and they will gladly give you the code for your car.
