My niece flew into Santiago, Chile last week and was staying in Vina del Mar when the earthquake hit. Although they lost power and telephone she retained internet access and she emailed that she was fine. They went out into the middle of the street for about 30 minutes and then went back to bed.

She is there as a part of a foreign studies program and I think she will learn much, likely much more than she can imagine. Based on her email she has no idea of the magnitude of the destruction that surrounds her. The cool part is that she is a terrific photographer and so long as she retains internet access I think I will receive some incredible pictures and I will post them to this thread.

Glad to hear she's ok Lee! I had an old college buddy that was visiting Hawaii at the time the "tidal wave" hit them, but it sounds like everyone there was given enough warning to get out of the way.

Wow, Lee, that gave me shivers. I'm a new dad and couldn't imaging anything happening to my kid. Glad to hear she's ok. Looking forward to the photos.

I missed your response Tiana. It is funny, my niece is named Tania - same letters just a different order. I have heard very little other than she is still there but she is living with a family well north of Santiago and everything is good. Thank you for your prayers, I have been on my knees a bunch lately but that is an extended story.
