Keyless entry remotes!!

can anyone please tell if the following remote is the correct one for my car?

On the back of remote -

MPT 1340
W.T. LICENCE EXEMPT
IFWO1E112A 6849011 JAPAN

MY car is a 850SE Lreg.

I bought a remote off ebay and cant get it to work. Ive tried all the methods on the forum.

Does the remote have buttons that are side-by-side or over-under?

they are side by side. the buttons are almost of a rectangle shape.

That sounds like the correct remote for that year. I am no expert but I recently went through the remote purchasing thing too. You have aprobably tried this already but this is what I did to program mine:

Get in the car and shut the doors with all locks open.
Put the key in and turn to on and back to off 5 times in a row leaving it on on the fifth turn (all within 10 seconds).
Press one of the remote buttons.

okay, thanx, u know any other ways to programmin it urself? i don't want to take it to da stealership aka dealership and pay them $42-$50 to do a 5min job, let me know if anyone out there know how to do dis, thanx
