Cost of programming remote
I have a problem with my remotes and might like to get some new remotes programmed. i understand a dealer has to perform the programming. does anyone know what it costs to program new remotes for my 2002 S60?

Not sure what problems you are having, but maybe changing the batteries would be a good place to start. If you are sure you need completely new remote(s) then you can take it anywhere that has the VIDA system. Dealers have to have it, some independents have it and can program the remote the same as the dealer can. It really varies for programming charges, you just have to call around for quotes.
As an example, one key purchased, cut and programed and two remotes purchased and programed, $512.00 out the door in So Cal. The remotes were about $120 each plus a $35.00 software download and $118 minimum charge for the tech time to program everything to the car

That is exactly right. It is not cheap, they are worth their weight in gold just about. Some people get very angry when the service advisor tells them it will take 1 hour of labor to download the software. One customer says "you mean to tell me that you are charging me the same hourly rate to program as a key as you are to change out a transmission?" His point is the level of difficulty should be signifigantly lower for electrical programming, therefore the hourly rate should not be the same, it should be lower. He has a very good point IMO.
So keep your options open and see if you can find the best price around. It will vary.

I just had a new key and remote 'programmed' for my 2001 v70 cost = £60(GBP) for key and remote, and £59+VAT (17.5% tax in UK) to have it programmed.
It took about an hour of them fiddling around with a laptop plugged into the car. All main dealers can do it. Im sure some would be much quicker. The tech that did mine was intellectually challenged and I think he may have struggled tying his own shoes!
The added bonus was that the fault codes neeed clearing before they can do it so my "ABS service required" has gone now. (Was front left ABS sensor that had been replaced but still keeps spitting spurious fault codes out?)
