V40 T4 burning valve problem

Post by ifrancuz »

Hi, I have BIG problem with my Volvo V40 T4. Two valves on exaust have burned out already. I have changed them but sometimes lamp with Lamda sond blinks. Car is going just fine, fuel consumption is OK. I have cleaned all four fuel inectors. My mechanic says that there is problem with high temperature in machine probably caused by lot of Sumpor in gasoline. Can somebody help me with advise?????

Well, your mechanic may be right, that s quite a bit of mileage...

you should be using ron98 in the T4, pre-longed use of 95 is not recommended, althogh I could not say whether this would cause dammage to the engine,

fuel economy with ron 95 is also no so good

what do your plugs look like? are they burnt??

today, car went to the mechanic again, i dont think that he will do anything new on him. In a meantime, I have looked S40 T4, 2001/11 month, car is good, but he goes like he has 120horse power, not 200.... my friend says that I must take him on higway and drive him at 5000/rpm for a long time and then he will be good again. What do you think?

Unlikely

does the turbo spool on this one?? 120bhp sounds about what you'd expect from a 2L engine without a turbo
could be cracked or loose hose from turbo to intercooler or intrcooler to manifold

driving at 5000rpm would meen third gear at about 80mph

I wouldnt recoment that for a prlonged period of time.

have you bought this car?
