Replacing 1999 S80 turn signal assembly

I just purchased a new front drivers side turn signal assembly from IPD. The new one and the old one are a touch different. I trimmed out some of the plastic in muliple areas but it just doesn't seem to want to click in. Am I messing something? Thanks.

There was a minor alteration to the lights on later models and you need to modify as in the attached:
