S60 Sunroof not working

Post by sixvolvos »

My '01 S602.4T sunroof stopped working.
Luckily it is closed!
Fuse is OK.
I measured the voltage at each side of the fuse while moving the overhead button to every position.
Always 12V, and it does not change when the control button is moved.
That means there is no stuck motor or linkage.
While I have the full wiring book for an S90, I have none for the S60.
As a result I cannot trace backward in the circuit.

Any suggestions?
How does the overhead control panel come off?

Thanks,

One other thing you might check is to see if your alarm is working properly. Alot of times when the batteries fail in the siren module the sunroof will also quit. Sounds crazy but in the grand scheme of things they are connected.

goodnight:
That did not work.
I also had to charge the car battery before trying it because I left the key on after trying to troubleshoot the problem.
My alarm has been insane for several years.
It comes on randomly after I lock the car. Anywhere from 5 minutes to several hours.
Lights flash and the alarm horn is very very weak.
I get an "Alarm triggered" message on the dash.
Dont want to spend a grand or so at the dealer.
Don't want to take out the fender liner to get at the unit either.
Right now, the Panic button does not work either.

Now what?
TIA

This might sound odd, but my 2001 s60 sunroof was stuck as well as issues with the alarm and the automatic door lock didn't work. I took it in for a tune up because the maint light was on (I just bought the car), and upon resetting the light all three issues subsided. Sunroof works perfect, door locks perfect, and I haven't had another issue thus far with the alarm going off when I unlock or lock the car with my key. I know this might not help, but maybe try resetting all the dash lights or the whole electric system if that's possible. I have no idea why my issues went away but I figured it had some sort of correlation to resetting the lights and/or electic system of the car. Sorry if this is no help, just thought I'd share my experience.

Chzzz:
As I mentioned, when trying various things, I left the key on overnight which discharged the battery.
Had to charge it.
I will try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes.
Also downloaded the S60 wiring to see the origin of the power source.

I'm not trying to tell you your business, but if your alarm is not working properly then more than likely that is the cause of your sunroof not operating. Instead of chasing unknowns fix what you know is wrong (the alarm module) and I bet your sunroof will be as good as new. It's not bad at all to change, taking the fender liner out is probably the worst part. It will take you about an hour tops. I have a working used one for sale if interested or I'm sure myvolvopartsonline or your local dealer has fair prices on new ones as well.

Otis44:
What would you want for the alarm module?
I'm guessing my dealer will NOT have what I would call a fair price.
Have not been able to get the codes, if any, read.
Hope to soon.
