making Reverse Intercooler pipework 855 T-5 97 RHD
Has anyone made a Reverse Intercooler pipe work set up ? IPD Do one in the USA for around $400 over here the same system is £500+ Delivery [not good] As far as I've seen all the Reverse Intercooler set up is is a 3inch Stainless pipe and some silicone hoses If I am correct I will have a go at making the system

I made one with exhaust pipe for the top and just cut the stock pipes to make the rest fit.
I have a couple pictures I'll try to find them.

Thats great. So let me see if I've got this correctvolvee850glt wrote:heres one picture not to good but you can get the idea of what i did.
The pipe from the top of the I/C goes to the top of the T/C The fresh air hose stays as is ie the bottom of the T/C and the bottom of the I/C goes to the Throttle housing ?
I think I've got that wrong surely the air from the T/C must go into the Throttle Body or does it get sucked from the top of the I/C then into the T/C then Throttle Body then returned to the I/C
I/C - Intercooler
T/C - Turbo Charger
So how does the Reverse I/C layout help the T/C spool faster, is it the shorter pipe route ?

No you're right the intake goes down to the turbo like stock. And from the top of the turbo it goes to the top of the cooler then from the bottom of the cooler to the throttle body. Also on mine the elbow on the throttle body as a hose that goes to the the idle control so I had to add a longer hose to it so i could turn it around so the elbow goes down not up like it does stock.
With the reverse piping it makes the intercooler more efficient because with the stock piping the hot air just rises in the cooler not cooling as much. This helps the engine because the air being forced in isn't as hot and making it possible to run higher boost pressure with less risk off damaging the motor. I didn't notice much performance difference but it does spool up a little quicker being shorter than stock, but I also put a blow off valve on when I did which helps it spool up even better but unless you really know what you are doing I wouldn't recommend it. I had a lot of problems with the blow off valve.

Thats good news so something worth doing unlike some of the other suggested mods. I think the Reverse I/C looks far cleaner and neater
