B4 Servo cover replacement question

I'm getting ready to replace the B4 servo cover on my 2001 V70 T5 in hopes of solving my nasty transmission problems. I have all the write ups and am fairly confident, I was just wanting to make sure that I am not going to have to perform any sort of "adaptation procedure" afterwards. Or can I just swap it out?

I would take it to the dealer and get VADIS to reset the adaptives just for fun. What's the tranny doing anyway? have you gotten the software update, changed the fluid and all that good stuff?

The last thing I want to do is take it to the dealer! I've been that route and frankly, I cant afford the $120/hr they want to charge.
Here's what has been done: Tranny replaced, TCM update, fluid

Symptoms: Shift flare between 3-4, harsh sudden downshifts

So I've narrowed it down to either the B4 Servo Cover OR the TCM Adaptation Procedure was not properly performed and/or completed. I want to try this fix first and if its not the Servo cover, then its the TCM. The shop that did the TCM update is going to do it again, and if it fixes the problem, the update is free of charge. I'm just excluding all other possibilities before I take it back for the TCM update again. I dont want to be wrong and owe them $100.

The procedure is completely a mechaical replacement and will not effect the adaptaions while doing it
Once the car is driven again the adaptaions will work as normal.

I did the B4 servo update a few weeks ago, and while it helped clear up the last remaining shift delay I was getting between third and fourth gears, I found that most of my transmission woes were fixed by replacing all my engine mounts and both axle assemblies (all of which, I might add, were in need of replacing). So if the B4 update doesn't do everything you hoped it would, and your new tranny seems a bit sluggish, I'd suggest checking the aforementioned areas.

Hey bocephus, was the old B4 servo broken. Had the washer broken off from the cap or was it intact.

My understanding is that if the washer is broken off from the cap this causes the poor shifting, and replacing the servo fixes the problem. But if the old servo is intact, replacing it won't do anything.

Yup, the old washer had broken; forgot to mention last night (was pretty tired when I replied) that the B4 servo update fixes shift flare that occurs when the transmission is going from 2nd-3rd, not 3rd-4th. While some places may tell you that it's only a 15 minute job, it took me (and some others who've done the repair) considerably longer, as the location of the servo housing is a real PITA. Dasrah, any update on your B4 servo replacement. Was the washer broken off the old one?. Did it fix your problem?
