Need instructions on how to turn off the "service"

Post by Bella »

Can anyone walk [type] me through how to reset the service light on my '93 940 turbo. Between the headlight I have not replaced and the service light, my dash is starting to look like a Christams tree.

thanks,
Jen

Two things:

1. You can get the procedures for turning off the service light at:

http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/E ... DCodes.htm

If it's on, however, your car is trying to tell you something. Listen to it by running the OBD diagnostic procedures found at the same link above. Print out the part of the link you need, including the code numbers, and take this to the car with you (and a pen).

2. When you replace your headlight (which you really should do before your lawbreakin' ways become a public menace), replace them both. If you don't, your bulb failure light will likely remain on, because the sensor will read the difference between the bulbs as a failure in one of them. Besides, it's 7 bucks well-spent, and will save you the hassle of your next post, which would be "bulb failure light won't go out, and all bulbs are working", or something like that.

Have fun.

thanks,
I am pretty sure the light is on for the oil change since it was about 3000 since my last one, but point well taken. I will check that out.
As for the lights, thanks, I'll do that too.
