Hello everyone,
I've been reading on this forum for a few days and just decided to join, I figured it would be easier for me and hopefully help other people having similar issues with all of your help! So... I picked out a 2001 S60 2.4T for my girlfriend, we purchased the car and have noticed a few strange issues. Everything checked out when I took it for inspection and I had the throttle body cleaned as best as possible and my mechanic was scared to touch the ETM because he's not a Volvo specialist. Reading on this site and others, I thought the ETM might be really dirty or faulty, even though it had the recall work performed by the previous owner. When we drive the car, it rides great besides when braking or simply slowing down to make a slow turn. When we do this, the engine jumps a bit and can be felt in the pedals. There is also a slight clunk noise. This jump also occurs occasionally at early acceleration. The ETM seemed like a likely culprit but there is no issue with RPMs jumping around. Yesterday, the check engine light came on and we took it to autozone just to check out the code. I can't remember the code but it read as an issue with the o2 censor or possibly the catalytic converter. I'm clueless and about to take it to a friend-recommended Volvo mechanic, but I'd like to get an idea as to what the issue might be in all of your opinions. Keep in mind the transmission doesn't slip or have trouble shifting at all when it comes to my novice observations.
Thanks in advance for any input, and this forum has been extremely helpful!

...And the more I read, the more I think the stop-neutral is still engaged. This might be my issue?? Aside from whatever is going on with o2.

My girlfriend is driving is right now, but I will check it out when she gets home. Thanks for the quick reply!
Hi
I had this trouble recently with the EML coming on after i restarted the car after a run. It coughed and spluttered , which caused the o2 senssor to flag up an abnormal value. It only happens occasionally. The EMl went out a few hours later. My mechanic - experienced on volvos , didn't think it was any cause for concern. The clunk- its worth looking at a worn radius arm bush etc
