Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

My son also calls them OVLOV. When I asked why he said, "When you have one of those trucks closing in behind all you can see in the mirror is OVLOV!"

Thanks
Shall do my best to 'go the extra mile' to help.............. bit of a tekky novice me though!
Started doing as much of my own work as I can since moving to France. Frenchy garages do not seem to be able to see further than Peugeot, Citroen & Renault  for the main part. Give them an Ovlov & they ring the mainstealer to find out 'how to'!
..............and if you think I'm going to pay a mainstealer when I can do it meself! LOL

Well, time for an overdue update methinks

My 480 is sold  . Could'nt justify keeping 3 cars going. So I sold it on 480-org forums. Despite it being a RHD model I had my hand snapped off, as 480Turbo with the auto option were never introduced to France. So it is a rare beastie here. It was bought by a young lad, who is an enthusiast of all things 480, he has done a rolling resto' & the car is looking simply fab'

He has done a LOT of mechanical stuff as well as the detailing.

My 240 continues to be reliable. 194k miles now. In the past few months I've replaced all the flexi brake hose's & bled the system. I've replaced the clutch slave cylinder & bled that too as the old one began to leak. This summer it's going to a garage for replacement front road springs, shocks, & front end bushes. Something I'm not confident enough to do myself - I've tried spring compressors, but wimped out

Here's how my 240 is looking:

Image

My 850 has proved to be a good purchase at £850 14 months ago with 138k miles. Now has 154k miles and runs like a dream.

I had to clean & lubricate a rear brake calliper, replace the rear tyres (walls perished) & fit LHD Headlamps for the French
Contrôle Technique (MOT).

Since then it's been routine maintenance: I've changed the cambelt & aux belt. Replaced spark plugs, dizzy cap, rotor & air filter. Oil & filter twice. Last weekend I replace the rear brke discs (rotors), pads & handbrake shoes. My handbrake had failed completely  . I found the the friction material had parted from the shoes!

I've 'made' a fault-code reader with burglar alarm cable & an LED. I pulled a 2-1-2 code, but as the car runs like clockwork I guess this was an old & uncleared code. I've cleared it, so now have 1-1-1. I'll run it for a few weeks & re-test to be sure.

Well that's all ( enough waffle!) for now.

Thanks for reading :D
