03 S60 ECC Sensor replacement

Post by vidman »

Hi everybody-
My electronic climate control is not regulating the temperature correctly. I am almost certain it is a broken temperature sensor within the climate control module (behind the little 'grill' on the ECC)- I think I broke the copper wire inside.

Does anyone know if the sensor is replaceable, without replacing the entire panel (control knobs and dials). I took out the panel and was able to remove the sensor blower assembly, but didn't want to open up the module to look inside.

If it is replaceable, where might I find a part number?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, sensor is replaceable. Don't know PN.

You need to remove the ECC module to get to the sensor. Sensor is secured by two screws to the back of module.

Remember to disconnect battery, before you disconnect the ECC.

Thanks for the info. I did remove the ECC module and I was able to remove the blower from the back of the module.

I couldn't see anything specific with regards to a sensor. Does the module need to be opened up to get to the sensor?

Thanks once again for the info!

That little fan thing, I believe, is the sensor itself. They go for about $120. Make sure the fan spins when reconnected.

I hope you didn't pull out the wire sticking between the opening of the grill, some kind of thermistor that's part of the CCM. If you did pull on that wire, you might have to open the CCM to see if that wire got disconnected/unwelded
