S40 purchase advise

Post by 537playing »

I'm the owner of a 2001 s80 in which I do most of the mechanical fixing. With that said, I'm looking to buy a second Volvo for my daughter as I already know of Volvo mechanical items.
Are there any year or style of s40's to avoid and/or look to test before purchasing a used one?

Let me dust this one off...

I'm looking to give my 855 to my daughter and get a S40 with a turbo for myself :) I'd like to avoid the earlier style version of the 40, so I think that would have me looking at 2005 and up? I'm currently doing a lot of highway miles and would like to avoid having to perform any work during my weekends - any suggestions on models/years to avoid? Any issues with the AWD versions?

I believe the 2004 T5 is the earliest 'new' model S40. Sweet looking car.
