SC805 being really picky on CDs

Post by charlyW »

Does anyone else have issues with their SC805 Radio being really selective on what CDs it will and wont play? Mine will only play some brand new just opened ones and won't play ones that have already been played in any other player help!!

Mine is fine with proper shop bought cds but mine struggles with ones I've burned myself, mainly first thing in a morning when it's colder. If the car has been sat in the sun all day I have no problems. I get them to play by selecting track 2 while you can hear the player searching but even that doesn't always catch it. Used a lens cleaner a few times in it too.

Same. The CD player's a piece of junk - if the cd's scratched in the slightest, it'll skip on the middle tracks. I have the -816 model.

If the stereo still sounds good, an ipod adapter is a good solution. I use the Blitzsafe one, which plugs into the CD changer port on the stereo, comes out as a cord near the coin tray/lighter area, powers (and charges) the ipod/iphone, and doesn't make you have to fiddle with the ipod's volume control. It was around $70, and well worth it. There probably are others just as good or better... I tried the tap-into-cassette-preamp method, and was very underwhelmed at the sound and convenience.
