Vegas:
WOW!
What a good post.
All the info I need to do the job.
However if the original unit had a leaking battery, all of them probably have a battery that will eventually leak and fail again.
I will have to start with a new one. My original only lasted about four years ('01 S60T) before the alarm system became insane, but it was only a few months ago that the sunroof failed. I do not really care about the alarm system, but want the sunroof back.

What is the correct part number for the Alarm module (UEM) for an '01 S60?
Probably the same as for an S80.
There are discount sellers such as Borton, Erie Volvo, and some others.
I want to make sure I get the correct module, if I order.

What would you want for the alarm module?
I'm guessing my dealer will NOT have what I would call a fair price.
Have not been able to get the codes, if any, read.
Hope to soon.

You really need to get the codes or you're just hacking off
Get the codes, if it's an alarm module, call erie
www.erievovo.com
I had a nightmare 01 V70, the bottom line was it needed a power seat module, a seat HEAT module and an alarm.
Without pulling the codes I would have been pissing in the wind and running around in circles

Thanks everyone for the advice.
The step by step procedure for an S80 was a big help to my mechanic who had not done one before.
'01 S60 is very similar.
Two codes were set but tech could not clear them.
Course not, the module was dead!
He replaced the module with one from a dealer at $222.
Now all is well and sunroof works.
Thanks again!
Now moving to the S70 thread on S70 window motor replacement.
