2001 V70 Transmission no 3rd gear

Post by Erick »

Hello all,

What a great site. I am hoping someone can help me with my Volvo. I purchased a 2001 volvo v70 2.4T with 95,000 mile on it about 6 weeks ago. I was having emmision problems (had to replace the catalytic converter) and did not take notice to the transmission slipping out of 3rd gear. Now the automatic transmission has no 3rd gear. It went from slipping to nothing in a short period of time. All other gears work fine and It has never jerked or clunked into any gears like I have read in many other posts. I have read about the B4 servo replacement. Is that something that may help? I called the dealership and they will only replace the entire transmission for $4,800. This is my first volvo and I love it, but replacing the transmission is not financially possible right now.

Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Erick

TELL THEM to look at (and replace) the B4 servo.
It's a small, cheap part and you have nothing to lose.
Probably won't fix it, but anything is possible

if the dealer won't do it, then do it yourself. It's a $20 part and easy to replace if you are handy.
