I've got a 99 V70glt that has gotten noticeably louder over the last few months.
It sounds almost like an exhaust leak, and when poking around, it sounds like it's emanating from under the "shroud" immediately behind the engine. Inside the passenger compartment I often hear more turbo sound than usual when it's occurring. Also, it seems to be worse when the car is cool. After a good run, it tends to quiet down.
Before taking it to my local shop, who are good but pricey, I was hoping to get an idea of what it could be.
Is there a common issue with loose hose clamps or something like, or should I be prepared to replace some major components?
Thanks in advance.
Somewhat louder 99 V70GLT?

It's either a lowly gasket that's let loose (#3 below), or a hole in the pipe somewhere. The pipe itself that ducks down to go under the car actually cracks quite often.
If this is the issue, a good welding shop should be able to get to it, if accessible. Make them show you the problem before they tell you you need a whole new exhaust, because most shops will throw the most expensive solution at you.
