2000 S70 alarm not working

Post by Pirate99gs »

I have a 2000 s70, and as the title states, the alarm stopped working tonight. When locking the doors, the lights do not flash, and the red LED light doesn't "blip". I searched to find an answer, but I guess my search skills area lacking.

The key fob still works, I can lock and unlock the doors, panic button still works. I locked the doors with the window down, and opened the door from the inside, and the alarm didn't go off.

I had been working under the steering wheel prior (adjusting the hood latch cable). Is there a possibility that I jarred something??

Thanks in advance for any help

Pieter

adjusting the hood latch cable
Try the easy fix first: open all doors, hood, and trunk and give them a good slam. If my rear door doesn't "think" it's shut, mine won't lock/activate the alarm.

I wonder since you messed with the cable if the hood knows that it is shut, or is it tugging on the opener mechanisms a bit?

Well I went back to the car and backed the cable on the hood latch off...and success!! The alarm works again.

I have never met a pickier car than a Volvo and the little things that will cause them not to work right
