Hood Release cable on a 2002 S80

Hello to All,
Has anyone installed a hood release cable on an 2002 S80? Mine just snapped and I am using a pair of vise grips to pull on the cable to open the hood. The cable is about $35 but the labor is out of this world to install it. I would appreciate any input out there in assisting me to install this cable myself.

I am getting ready to take on this same situation. I will let you know. The only advice I have received is to splice in to the good cable in engine compartment. I also have a queston on how to change the oil breather box?
