What is this pipe and the part it is connected too?

The box has the car's computers, and the pipe going to it is simply an air pipe to help cool down the electronics. You can pop off the top of that box to take a look inside if you want.

Oh sweet, thank you. On my car that pipe has some minor cracks in it, can that be a problem? And could it cause a check engine light?

Will NOT cause a CEL, and doesnt do a whole lot. just wrap it with tape.

The pipe just supplies air to the ECU box. It is not under pressure so the suggested black electrical tape trick will work just fine. I think a replacement part is under $20.00.

My car had the hose missing and it did not cause any issues. Just tape it and you will be good to go.

just keep an eye out if your like me and hit junk yards regularly, and when you see the part, snag it.
only took me like 3 weeks to find the part in great condition.

guy charged me like 5 bucks for it.
you can even paint it if you want to. O.o
