Ok, I must leaking oil everywhere. I checked my oil dipstick this morning, and it was 1.5L low. I filled it to the max mark, drove around on errands for about 30 miles. Now it's at the halfway mark. There isn't a pool of oil on the ground or anything. A few days ago when I changed the sparkplugs, the area under the plastic cover around them had oil gunk everywhere. I found this thread. If that's the issue, I guess I can't put off the PCV system clean/replace any longer.

In most cases, the NA engines do not leak anywhere NEAR as many places as the turbo cars do, because there just aren't as many other places for it to go to start leaking from.

If you're losing oil at that rate, I bet one of the cam seals is blown out, and wind is blowing it down the underside of the car. That's what happened to mine anyway.

Time to get on that PCV system

So I was wrong again. There is oil on the ground under where I parked. I went ahead and removed the flame seal per another oil leak thread I saw here. I wish I had a picture of it i could post. It's pretty much completely clogged. I started the car back up after that and revved to 2.5k rpm a few times. Smoke is still coming out of the dipstick hole. :x

I also accidentally severed a very brittle small rubber cable coming from the piece that the flame seal rests in. I'm trying to find a diagram to figure out what it was. I hope I don't have to replace the seal that requires dropping the transmission. :(

Edit: I just looked at this kit, and it doesn't have that small cable/hose that got snapped. It connected to the "J" piece in that diagram.

That hose that crumbled was a vacuum line elbow piece. I did the plastic tubing and zip ties fix until I can get the PCV overhaul. I ordered the kit from IPD. I'll be getting it Monday I think. After removing the flame trap, the oil loss was reduced, but only at lower rpms(2.5K and under). If I run at 3K+, I lose about a quart over 20 miles.

I suppose this means that at higher RPMs the oil gets thrashed around more and it comes out of the fill-cap area faster. Hopefully the new PCV kit + new cam seal + new oil cap gasket + Auto-Rx + Seafoam will take care of the oil leak issue. I don't think I can DIY the engine removal project for the RMS.
