850 T5R 1995 ignition amplifier

I've been getting hiccups with my car. After a lot of checking, we replaced the little ignition amplifier next to the coil and the problem went away. After a couple of months it came back so we replaced the amp. again and that fixed the problem once more. Now three more months have passed and I have the sensation that the hiccups are about to start again. I fully expect that the car needs yet another ignition amplifier..... Obviously I must find out what is causing the ignition amplifier to fail as this is getting tiresome - though still not quite so tiresome as the hiccups were!

Has anyone got any ideas of what might be causing the ignition amplifier to fail, please?

Are you sure its always the ignition amplifier and not the cam sensor, throttle pot switch failing or fuel injection relay quitting on you ? What codes is your car returning that would be my first point of call as the diagnostics will guide you to the general area of failure especially ignition

Have you ever changed spark plug wires?

Thank you both for your attention. I think that it is absolutely clear that the hiccups came from a faulty amplifier as you will see that each time the hiccups appear the amplifier checks out as faulty and replacing it cures the hiccups straight away - but only for about three months, by which time the amplifier has failed again. What I am trying to establish is what is causing the amplifier to fail.

extreme heat can cause amplifiers to fail notorious on Range Rovers along with the crankshaft sensor which can cause the amplifier to fail, Is the earth good by the coil pack. This might offer some more help

check out pin 3 making sure it has 12v pin 1 is to earth also not sure if its relevent if you follow the two wires coming from the bottom of the connector they go to the PNP switch on top of the gearbox bit of a nightmare to open up but
