Mobil 1 ATF not being sold in stores in North San Diego

Post by igel513 »

I have been to diff. auto parts stores and couldn't find Mobil 1 atf. Asked a sales associate and was informed they were all sent back to their central warehouse and they didn't know the reason why. Went to Pep boys and sales guy said d same thing and that there might be a recall on those atfs. Has anybody heard of any recall on those atfs. Changed my 03 s60 w/ Valvoline Maxlife DExron/Merc. The owners manual specifies some atf numbers w/c I don't recall and is in the maxlife atf. I also used same atf in my 04 4runner tranny w/c calls for a T IV atf.

You might want to post this in the S60 forum. If I'm not mistaken you need to use the JWS 3309 specification ATF in your car.

Mobil1 ATF conforms to JWS3309 standards. Used it before on my other car and now that it's time to change atf, couldn't find Mobil1.

The stuff you put in is fine. I think the cleanliness of the fluid is more important than what brand, or whether it's conventional or synthetic. Although since I do now have almost 100% M1 Syn ATF in my car, I would like to get it back soon so I can do some more drain and fills.

So I suppose they'd be mad at me for spilling mine all over the parking lot when I changed it? I tried to clean it up...I did.

I love the Mobil-1 fluid...it does stink forEVER though if you get it on your shoe.

Why not use Castrol?
I was told by a Volvo mechanic it is the one that Volvo uses originally.

Quoted for truth!

Every time I do anything with that stuff, I'm super careful but I always come in the house and instantly my mom is glaring at me for the smell intrusion. It's potent stuff!
