2011 C70 ATF repair

Post by Diesels_n_Poker »

The transmission cooler line required replacement after running over some debris. Some genius in Sweden had the bright idea of having the cooler line routed at the lower bound of the transmission. Of course, had there been no debris in front of the car, I would not be dwelling on this...

New cooler line from dealer 185 bucks (form-fitted Polish-made genuine Volvo quality). 4-Liters of Volvo ATF 83 bucks. 15 minutes to replace the line. 2-hours to backfill the spent transmission fluid.

Items required: 1 liquor flask funnel. 2 feet of fuel/oil resistant line. 1 Pack of smokes and a fifth of Crown Royal.

Wait til my fellow C70 owners go looking for info on the transmission (Automatic): NOTHING in the manual under maintenance.

The dipstick is a riot: There is a wiring harness directly above it that prevents pulling the dipstick to check the level and the band-clamp must be removed if you are curious about the fluid level.

Story ends well: the NEW soccer-mom-mobile is back on the road. Momma loves me again and I get the OLD soccer-mom-mobile back.
