Question: When the DLRs are on, should they include the parking lights? And if so, should the parking light indicator be always lit?
As part of the recent recall, the dealer replaced the headlight switch on my 1998 S70 last week. Since then, when the control knob is at the 0 position. the headlights/daytime running lights are on, and so are the parking lights. The green parking light indicator on the headlight control is now always lit, including when the knob is at 0. I don't recall this happening before, but maybe it's been that way all along and I'd never noticed?
When I called the service manager, he said he didn't know if the parking lights should always be on, but he "guessed" that was the proper mode.

Volvo DRLs turn on ALL the lights...tail lights included.
You can disable this function if you want. There is a small screw in the lower right-hand corner of the light switch. Use a small screwdriver and push it in gently while turning it. This should switch the lights off, letting you choose when to turn them on.

I believe the work done by the recall has made the current functions normal. All the exterior lights are on with the DRL (headlight setting at O, green light visible). The only lights that are NOT on when the headlight setting at O are the interior instrument panel displays and the interior switches (radio, A/C, gear shift, etc).
So no worries!
