Hey.
Can you all check that the clutch hose/pipe from the slave isn't rubbing on the main loom which sits under the battery tray. My T5 has done 256,ooo, and it rubbed through a few months ago. It comes as a whole assembly from master to slave that routes along the bulkhead etc I just cut out the hose part and replaced it with a brake hose of greater length. Easy enougth to fix. But a pain. Cheers.
High Milage 850 Clutch Hose fault..Beware.

I ate a throwout bearing which in turn ate the fingers off of the pressure plate.
As a part of that experience I did find that you can shift without the clutch to get home.
Volvo did design the system well though in that after the hose breaks the brake fluid level is maintained for the brakes - there is a separate chamber in the back of the master cylinder tank that provides fluid to the clutch.

It seems to me that maybe the harness or hose was accidentally misrouted during a previous service, space is tight through there and many older cars get put back together at some point missing a bracket here, or clip there.
So yes it never hurts to look around and make sure no components are improperly installed or routed.

Yeah, The reservoir had me stumped for a while as It looked full. Arr..Master or slave cyl etc. It was only when I noticed the seperate chamber that all fell into place. I also agree that volvo would have designed the system to work forever, whatever the weather, so clips and mountings got mis-placed at some point during a clutch change maybe.
Nice one guys.
