Transmission Fluid Help

Post by turbos70t5 »

Hi, I'm new to this forum, anyways I have a 1998 S70 T5 SE Canada model with 145k miles. Recently I replace the whole the PCV system and repaired the ABS module. Next I want to drain the transmission fluid but need help getting the right kind of transmission fluid for the car. I read the other forums about transmission fluid drain and fill write ups but still a bit confused which fluid I need. I included a photo of my auto shifter because the fluid depends on the speed of the transmission right? Your input is greatly appreciated.

The Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is good stuff, lot of people here use it with good results.

That's the 4 speed.

Regular Dex-III is what it uses, but if you choose to go for the fancy Mobil fluid, you can't hurt anything. I like it a lot :)

LOL ... Probably just me & the mood I'm in at the moment but the good natured sarcasm just busted me up! Mobile 1 synth truly is good stuff but it was your thinking process ecbsykes. ... I could almost hear the gears in your head as you wrote that post. LAWD!

Sorta like pileing a Ritz cracker with fresh caught, filleted salmon, onion, a little garlic & grated horseraddish! You bite into it, your eyes tear up, you think you might have overdone it & then realize you are truly about to die. ... your entire olafactory system & mouth is on fire. ... Then just before all hope is lost, ... it turns you loose. The pain stops, you may sneeze but 45 seconds later you say to your fishing buddy ... "LAWD! ... JAYSUS, that was intense, ready for another?!!!" ... Hahaha, not quite the same but pretty near. Gutting an old deer does not smell as bad as this stuff!

Haha, yeah... like I mentioned in another thread, if I ever come in the house with even a spec of that stuff on my clothes, my mom is instantly on my case about it... "You and your stupid car.....blah blah blah.... make the house smell like crap.... blah blah .... car junk on the table..... blah blah piece of crap car.....". :D

HAH! I get the same thing every time I go home and start any of my bigger projects. "Boy, why you always workin on that car, my driveway's a mess!"

I usually respond "well if you'd buy me a Porsche or an R8, I'd be more than happy to stop keeping this one alive "

That makes him go away in a hurry. Oh, but I love my car too much anyway to give it up for a better one
