98 V70T5 wagon - stops running intermitently

Post by mas »

My 98 V70T5 wagon stops running intermitently. When I was at a stop light or sign it stopped running. No shuttering or sputtering. It takes several cranks to get it running again, sounds almost like it is starved for gas. Once running, it would not happen again for an hour +. Now it happens when I am driving in traffic / freeway, without warning it stops running and takes several cranks to get it started again. When it is running the idle is smooth and exceleration is smooth as well.

Any Ideas?

Sound to me like you need a new fuel pump relay. If the car just turns off without any warning, then the relay is kicking off. To know for sure, you can remove the relay and jump the wires to see if it does it again.
