Hello MVS,
1999 S70, having a couple minor problems.
Known issues - my ABS module needs to be rebuilt, which I'm working on getting done.
- the electrical portion of my ignition switch needs to be replaced (key needs to be turned back slightly for electronics to work, have the part but havent replaced it yet.)
Question 1: Ocassionally the up arrow light will start flashing. Sometimes nothing will happen as a result, other times the car starts out in a higher gear, like I imagine the W/Wet mode button does on the gear shift console. I can't actually say its the same, as there is no change in gear behaviour when I press that button in my car, so I presume its faulty. From a stop the car starts out in a high gear (I believe 3rd). In order to get it moving from rest, I need to stomp on the gas. After stomping on the gas enough times, the car would sort of "jump" out of this sluggish acceleration back into normal gear shifts. Turning the car off and on also makes the car start from first again, which is what I do to correct it if im not on the road rather than waiting for it to work itself back by being abused from stop.
Question 2: I assume I need to replace my antenna motor; where's the cheapest place to source a working antenna motor, either used or new aftermarket/OEM.? I'm not close to a salvage yard. I say assume because I haven't got around to testing voltage at the motor to isolate the motor as the problem. All I know is that the fuse checks out ok. There is no noise coming from the antenna motor when I turn on or off the radio. The antenna motor was quite noisy when I bought the car, with the antenna rising half way up or less. I have a feeling it finally crapped out in the winter when the car was covered in snow. Since the fuse is ok, is there anything else I should check when I check for voltage at the motor itself? Still waiting for a day without rain to rip out half the trunk lining.

Your PNP switch needs to be replaced.
Meanwhile "ROW" the shifter back and forth about 20 times with the engine on (brake on).
That may clear the switch contacts for a while

Definitely want to get that PNP switch replaced! I'd say that is your top priority. And if rowing the shifter doesn't work too much, AVOID driving the car in limp mode like that. Starting from 3rd gear is very hard on these otherwise very robust transmissions.
P0722 should be related to your bad ABS module.
I would replace your PNP Switch ASAP, and then do your ABS module. Reset all codes and then see if anything shows up. The bad ABS sometimes will and sometimes will not display a bunch of weird codes. Good to get it fixed though! Try an online re-builder like Module Master for cheap and permanent rebuilds!
