99 V70 left hand side handbrake cable?

Post by ALSV70 »

Hi guys, my handbrake resistance has completely disappeared on the left hand rear wheel, the lever now comes up further than before and feels very poor. I'm assuming that the cable has broken. Any thoughts guys? if you agree with my diagnosis (without me actually looking yet) do you know how easy a job it is to replace the cable? also are there dual cables or just one?
Thanks for your help Al.

I had a similar problem with my hand lever going all the way up. Have you checked the bolt at the back of the hand lever? Mine had no tension on it at all - just had to tighten it up a bit. After you do that, you should check the tension on the e-brake pads. Just make sure you adjust it with the hand lever down - I goofed and adjusted it wen it was up, so I actually made it worse!

Looks like there's two cables per car:

...and there's a difference between AWD and FWD.
