Speedo is flickering

On my way into work this morning, my speedometer seemed to be a bit jumpy. Accelerating, deccelerating and driving at constant speed the needle with "flicker" up occasionaly. Any ideas on what is causing this. I have never seen it before. BTW 91 740 wagon. Thanks.

Had the same thing on my 89 740 turbo wagon. It turned out that the wire going into the sending unit on the rear differential had pulled out. i replaced it with a new unit and a bracket that they now make for it and it works like a charm.
