Counseling service?

Post by code-man850 »

A tragedy has stricken my life. In the process of buying a new truck for work I (financially) had to sell my beloved '96 855T. As many of you probably know, the 850 is a fricken awesome car that I never expected. I bought it thinking it was "just a car I could put my surfboard in". Until I got on the freeway after buying it and had the chance to flip "the switch". Oh how I instantly fell in love! I can still remember our flawless drives up California Highway 1 around Big Sur, or the many stop lights (and the quarter mile afterwards) where she slaughtered and feasted on Mustangs, Camaros and RSX Type S's (I've seen so many "sad faces") It's already been a month and a half but I still feel like a huge part of my soul is missing. :'( I shouldn't have to cry over every 850 turbo I see on the road. Is there an Ex-Volvo Driver Counseling Service anywhere? Anyone on here a shrink? It is affecting my life severely and I feel that I cannot carry on with my life anymore.
Disclamer: I am not really suicidal. I just need somebody to hear my crys and sympathize for me.

Matt, it does my heart good to see a sympathetic counsellor in action.

I went through the same harrowing experience some years back. I sold my 960 and bought a Ford Mondeo because at 5 years old it only had a mileage of 4,188. I suffered withdrawal symptoms for 26 months, with no sympathy, as I hadn't found this site. Eventually my wife whispered in my ear, "FOR GOODNESS SAKE GET RID OF THAT CAR AND BUY ANOTHER VOLVO." I did and my life returned to its former tranquil state.

You will overcome your problems, but the process will be accelerated if you buy another Volvo.

Bill.

See this is why I love Volvos so much. Its not just the cars but the good people that pilot them. One more year until I re-finance the truck and start saving for my ever so dreamed about Cream Yellow 850 complete with garage addition and car rack and we will live happily ever after. The 850s are starting to disappear from the road but I will pledge to keep mine as close to mint condition and keep it running as long as possible. I'm glad to hear that your life turned around Bill, and now I am more confident that mine can too. Thanks Matt for the offer but I already have five voices in my head telling me that. (one for every piston) :'(

I remember growing up seeing the Accords with the cool pop-up headlights, and then the Volvo 850 (sedans). I loved the designs of both of them, and have now owned one of both!

While my Saab 900 was my first car and spent 16 years in the family before that, it will always remain my favorite. It just had so much character to it. I felt (and still feel) the same way you do every time I see one of them still on the road. The Volvo has become a very close second, though. There's just something about those Swedes, mine too has become the favorite in the family. My parents steal it to go places every time I go home.

Now, just to get my hands on a '68 Mustang...or a Mini Cooper, before they do like every other automaker and ditch a perfectly good design.

At least my love for Volvo has spread and I've converted some family members who have offered to, when my condition gets bad, to take em around the block. Mother: 07 xc70 (love it), sister-in-law: 2005 xc90 T5 (I know... she didnt take my advice. Tranny!), and girlfriend: 2007 S40 (said she didnt need the T5. But babe!!!!!)
