850 AC Compressor jump start

I have been told my air conditioner is completely out of freon and as a result the compressor will not activate. The compressor was checked and it does operate properly. In the Haynes manual description, they indicate that the compressor must be running when refridgerent is added so it is necessary to use a jumper to fool the compressor into thinking there is already enough freon present to make it work.

The manual gives a good description of the recharging procedure but uncharacteristically there are no photos. Does anyone know where the location of the terminals are that must be shorted to cause the compressor to run?

Be very careful here or you can destroy the compressor. If the system is actually at 0 PSI you will need to replace the accumulator and draw a vacuum on the system before going any further.

If you do have a positive pressure you can jumper the low pressure switch which is located near the firewall on the AC line. Open the can of R-134A first so that the system at least has something to circulate.
