AC identification

I have a 1998 V70 that the previous owner has disconnected the a/c by chopping the hoses off the compressor, by doing so they have cut the actual metal work coming out of the compressor, I purchased a replacement and that when I found the problem. The system I've got doesn't match, in fact having looked fruther into it my system looks nothing like any of the photos/pictures I've found, can anyone suggest the way forward. are there 2 sorts?

How many hoses did you get? FCP lists 4 different ones for your car:

thats the problem I've got compressor to condenser, compressor to reciever, however they don't fit on the reciever thats currently on the car and don't fit on the old compressor.

The reciever is also a different shape to that pictures and seems to have a valve on the top.

currently the expansion valve is mounted as the evaporator enters the engine bay

the compressor has a metal block with 2 threaded tubes coming out of it (well i think they should have been threaded, these are the ones cut) , the replacement compressor I got needs two seperate hoses to bolt directly onto the compressor, which are the hoses I've got.

Teh only picture I found of my type of compressor is in the VOlov wiring diagram sheets.

If you can post a picture we can likely identify the type of compressor your car has and from there figure out which hoses you need. Most of them that I have seen are Zexel brand but there are some models with Nippon Denso compressors.

please see the link for the pictures of the system, (ignore the 1st photo) valve and and hoses, followed by reciver with valve on top, then the unit that attached the hoses top the compressor, followed by the system I've got hold of to hopefully retro fit if I don't need to chage the evaporator
