Hello,
I just purchase a 2001 S60 2.4T and believe I am missing some of the spare tire, jack, and tool pouch hold-down pieces. When I got the car the spare tire and other pieces were just loose in the trunk. No problem, I thought, until I started bolting everything down and found that there must be some pieces missing that hold everything securely down.
I would like to order the missing pieces, but cannot determine what the missing pieces are. I have looked online at the various part suppliers sites, but their spare tire/jack listings are very limited, or show more than one model in the same illustration, making it very difficult to know exactly what I am missing.
Would there be another 2001 S60 owner who could look at your setup and tell me what you have? Here is what I have:
- spare tire
- jack
- tool pouch, with lug wrench and various other items
- a large black plastic bolt that attaches (or hooks) to the trunk floor
- a large white plastic piece which acts as a nut to clamp the spare tire down, and also support something on top, with 2 straps
I am attaching an illustration from a parts supplier, showing various numbered parts. I have the following numbers:
1, 3, 3a, 4, 5, 6, 11, 10a & 10b

Put the plastic bolt through the center of the wheel and lock it into the slot in the trunk bottom. Tighten the plastic nut down on the bolt to hold the wheel in place. Place the jack on one side of the nut and the toolkit on the other side, then use the straps to hold them both in position.rajoha wrote:Hello,

I tried the very thing you have suggested... seemed logical to me, except that the jack and the tool pouch do not seem to fit very well on top of the nut adapter piece (at least not like it was designed to fit there), and the two elastic straps do not feel like they will hold the jack in place -- certainly not under hard braking.
Do you have a setup like this? If so, how is your jack attached?

Yes, I had the same setup in my S80. Rotate the jack around and it will slide into one of the slots on the nut. Set the toolkit in the other slot. Pull the straps across and pass them through the small slots in the plastic on the opposite side of the nut, then bring them up to press the velcro together on the top. Here's an illustration. Sorry, but my Paint skills aren't too good. The jack and toolkit would be the red and green bars (I can't remember which one goes on which side), and the straps are indicated by the blue bars. Hope this helps.

I tried putting the jack every which way I could think of on top of that nut, but could not get it to settle comfortably or securely into any of the slots on top of the nut, and the elastic straps were took stretchy to hold something like a jack, unless it was nestled down into a deep groove.
Could it be possible the S60 has a different setup than the S80. Looking at the illustration above it appears that some models also used pieces #7, #14, and #15, non of which I have. I have been told that piece #15 is not used in this market. Piece #7 doesn't look like it has anything to do with the jack, but I am still wondering if piece #14 might not have something to do with holding the jack on top of the nut, at least on the S60's.
I wish I could get a look at another 2001 S60, but unfortunately there aren't too many of them running around in South Texas.
